Hot Off the Press!

With Couture for a Cure only two weeks away things have been incredibly busy for me. Lucky for me I'd rather be busy than bored!

I wanted to share with you all the wonderful press we have been getting so far. Perhaps Couture for a Cure will have to be an annual event?! Thank you to everyone who has helped get the word out. You all have been so fantastic!

DC United Viewing Party a Success!

Wow - what a week! On Thursday we attended the 30-Day Countdown Celebration hosted by America's Polo Cup, presenting sponsor of Couture for a Cure. Boy do they know how to put on a grand party! We started off at the Australian Embassy with sneak peek of what to expect at the main event on May 8th and 9th. If you haven't bought tickets, do so NOW - it's going to be amazing! After that we headed off to the Beacon Hotel for a fun filled night. Thank you to the wonderful hosts Tareq and Michaele Salahi - you two are amazing!

To the Nth Degree hosted its first fundraising event and it was a HUGE success! Thank you to the amazing staff of Eighteenth and Red, the Screaming Eagles, and the Barra Brava. While I wish DC United had better luck, I know Friday's game will bring a better outcome...knock on wood! If you couldn't make it this past weekend to the event, no worries - we're hosting another one on April 26th at 3:00 pm. Come watch the game and enjoy good food with great company. Oh, and you can't beat the drink prices - $2 drafts/$3 rail drinks!

We'll see YOU at the DC United viewing parties at 18th and Red or Molly Malone's this Saturday. I plan on being at both! GO DC UNITED!

Mission Moment

I wanted to share another video with you telling Alessandro and Megan's heroic story. This really puts into perspective what this campaign is all about. It's about finding a cure so children like Alessandro and Megan don't have to go through such a thing. My heart goes out to the families who have been through this. Yes, we will one day find a cure.

Great Fans...Great Game

What a busy weekend!  Saturday brought a victorious DC United game against the Houston Dynamo where the one and only Bryan Namoff had a beautiful assist. Maybe it has something to do with my infamous pre-game meals!  Before the game my mom, my aunt, my cousin, and I went around the Screaming Eagles and Barra Brava tailgates to promote the DC United Viewing Party this weekend at Eighteenth and Red. You guys are all so wonderful and welcoming.  United truly has the best fans.

Sunday was the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler and I FINISHED in 1:36! Bryan and my mom were there to greet me at the finish line.  It really was an emotional experience having everyone cheering you on at the last stretch screaming "KEEP GOING! YOU CAN DO IT!"  Thank goodness for Britney Spears.  Her tunes definitely helped me out.  Next is the half marathon.  Any volunteers to train with me???

To the Nth Degree's Latest Supporter :)

To the Nth Degree was well represented at last nights kick-off party at The Park last night. While the event was a great time, the highlight of the night had to be when Bryan made a new friend. Here are some pictures from the night. Check out the article from Bisnow.

To the Nth Degree!

Welcome to my blog…to the Nth Degree! The goal of to the Nth Degree is involve friends, family, and supporters with this campaign from start to finish. I will also provide dates of the many exciting events we have planned as well as information and links to different sites including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and our wonderful sponsors. I hope you all find my blog to be both informative and inspiring!

I cannot begin to put into words how honored I am to be a candidate in this year’s Man & Woman of the Year Campaign. As many of you know, this is a cause I am very passionate about. In October 1995 I lost my father to a twelve-year battle to non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. When I was asked to participate, I gladly accepted the challenge with the optimism of one day finding a cure.

The LLS Man & Woman of the Year Campaign is a unique campaign raising money for the taxing fight against blood cancers. On April 1st, I will join eighteen other DC candidates vie for the title as the National Chapter Man or Woman of the Year. The male and female candidates with the most votes are then named the chapter's Man & Woman of the Year. Every dollar counts as one vote so I need your help in reaching our goal of raising $100,000!

The one thing that makes this campaign very unique is while we compete in the DC area, 41 other cities across America are also kicking off their Man & Woman of the Year campaigns. Talk about competition! More importantly, we raise money in honor of a Boy & Girl of the Year. These inspiring children are patient heroes chosen for their strength and winning attitudes. This year, we are raising money in honor of Alessandro Valeri and Megan Avery. In later blogs I will highlight their touching stories.

You may be wondering where the name to the Nth Degree came from. To the Nth Degree refers to our infinite ability to make a difference. We are all affected by cancer to the Nth Degree. We support finding a cure to the Nth Degree. We will raise funds to the Nth Degree. We are committed to the Nth Degree.

Couture for a Cure – Save the Date!

To the Nth Degree and America's Polo Cup proudly present Couture for a Cure - a fashion show highlighting the work of local designers including Aidah Fontenot, Tsyndyma, Lost Boys, Wendy Jarmol Jewelry, and Evelyn Brooks Jewelry all while Deejay Neekola spins her amazing beats and our Master of Ceremonies, Paul Wharton, gets the crowd going! Couture for a Cure will honor eight individuals who are currently living with cancer, have survived cancer, or have lost a loved one to cancer. Ultimately, it will provide these amazing individuals a well-deserved day of beauty and glamour provided by James Cornwell.

Come join us on May 7th from 7:30 to 10:30 pm at the Peacock Grand Café. Tickets to this remarkable event are $55 in advance and $65 at the door. This tax deductible donation includes open bar for all sponsored drink items, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and the chance to win plenty of raffle and silent auction items. Because we want to end the evening on a high-note, your ticket will also get you admission to Shadow Room for the Couture for a Cure after party.

Beginning April 1st, you will be able to purchase tickets in advance. Just go to: http://nca.llsevent.org/pledge/index.cfm?mid=COUTURE4CURE. We look forward to seeing you there!
